We specialise in designing pragmatic, affordable gardens from the "blank canvas" that developers usually leave with their "new home" customers.
We also tackle complete or partial garden makeovers.

2025 marks 40 years since I left my job as Area Sales Representative for Marshalls…still one of the UK’s top suppliers of Landscaping Materials. The block paving I sold to Milton Keynes Development Corporation is still in use! Wickes still stock the textured slabs we developed for them (Saxon paving)! Saxon paving became a best seller for Marshalls ...before the current fashion moved to using 20mm thick porcelain outdoors. My career also included responsibility for the buying and merchandising of Gardening and Building Materials for a leading DIY Superstore chain in the 80’s culminating in project managing medal winning show gardens at Chelsea and Hampton Court Palace in successive years “back in the day”. I even interviewed a young David Domoney and recruited him as a gardening buyer for that DIY Superstore Group long before he went on to join Alan Titchmarsh on “Love Your Garden”.(Btw David did a great job for me!)
I first launched Verdant and Bright in March 2004.....we have undertaken a wide range of projects since then and are pleased to be able to offer you the benefit of some of that experience...as appropriate.

Consultancy Services.
My personal passion has always been garden design and construction….anything from a small courtyard to a typical outdoor space transformation for a new build in Milton Keynes or on a new estate in and around Northampton. I was also involved in building, planting, and managing a “rolling landscape” overlooking Bury Hill Lakes near Dorking, Surrey as a result of installing my first multi-zone irrigation system pumped from a storage tank filled by local spring water...as long ago as 1997! It has matured beautifully - unlike me!
The aim of my consultancy service is to share my experience with you together with my knowledge of material sourcing and current prices so as to enable you to achieve good value from your chosen contractor for a garden that we design with you and that can be implemented in accordance with the Association of Professional Landscapers’ best practice … including the hugely important groundworks, foundations and fixing methods.
